about
This track was an airing of frustration about a situation I was in. On the side I run a concert production company and a venue I had been in was evicted during covid with some of my equipment of mine still inside. I was informed of this eviction while attending a funeral. The landlords wanted proof of purchase of the equipment which I didn't have because I bought it all in a cash deal from a company that no longer exists. They wouldn't take my proof of insurance or written statement from the tenant saying this was my stuff. After a year long battle, and getting a lawyer, they told me if I paid them $1000 I could have my stuff back.
We talked them down to $500 and had to prove vaccinations and do a covid test to be allowed in an empty room, that's been empty now for 2 years. After a long time of intense stress, bullying and extortion, I got my equipment back and wrote this song.
To try and have some good come out of this whole ordeal, I plan to donate all the proceeds from this song to Outrun Rescue in Alliston who my business and family donate all our empty beer cans to.
I hope you enjoy and find some catharsis in my song trying to expel this negativity from my body. I was trying to think of how I wanted to end the song and originally had a fade out sustaining guitar and opted to finish with a hard ending to symbolize, this is, for sure, done.
The song is featuring Dylan Gowan on drums.
lyrics
You took the breath,
right from my lungs
and tried to sell, it back to me.
I couldn't speak.
No I couldn't stand, on the floor you made,
then took away.
We'll let you go, when we say.
We'll let you go, when we say that it's safe.
You took the light, right from my eyes
and tried to say, there is only grey.
Given the fact you took what was always-
Given the fact you claimed it was never-
Given the fact you took what was always-
Given the fact you took what was always-
Mine. Always mine.
You never thought,
I would fight.
I will fight.
I will fight.
A book unread.
A life unled.
A soul you know, won't let this go.
You'll gather dust,
as you fade away,
just like the thought,
of what you did to me.
We'll let you go, when we say.
We'll let you go, when we say that it's safe.
All I ask, is that you give back, what was-
Mine. Always mine.
You never thought, I would fight.
Mine. Always mine.
You never thought, I would fight.
